TKT – About the test modules
There are five modules that can be taken in any order or combination, including two specialists
- Module 1: Language and background to language learning and teaching
- Module 2: Lesson planning and use of resources
- Module 3: Managing the teaching and learning process
- (Optional): TKT Practical – Classroom-based assessment of teaching skills
The modular tests are flexible and you can prepare and develop through courses or self-study
Module 1 test:
This module tests your knowledge of:
- terms and concepts of English language teaching
- factors underpinning the learning of English
- a range of materials, tasks and activities for English language teaching.
Module 2 test:
This module tests your knowledge of:
- the knowledge and skills you need to plan lessons
- the types of assessment and resources that can guide your lesson planning.
Module 3 test:
This module tests your knowledge of:
- teachers’ and learners’ language
- classroom management.
CLIL module test:
This module tests your knowledge of:
- the learning, thinking and language skills that learners acquire in different areas of the curriculum
- lesson planning, the activities and resources needed to support a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach
- lesson delivery and assessment in CLIL contexts.
Young Learners module test:
This module tests your knowledge of:
- learning and development in young learners
- the strategies and skills required to teach young learners aged 6–12 years
- lesson planning, the activities and resources needed to support young learners
- lesson delivery and assessment in young learner contexts.
